Doggy Street Photography – Crufts Edition!

Welcome to the latest Doggy Street Photography post! This time I bring you the Crufts 2013 edition!

As many of you know, I had a brilliant day at Crufts last Saturday. Of course, I brought my camera with me and got lots of photos of unsuspecting dogs. It was a bit like shooting fish in a barrel as there were all sorts of dogs everywhere! I have narrowed them down to my favourite six, but keep on eye on the Fluffy Tufts Facebook page for more Crufts photos.

Which of these photos is your favourite? And can you spot the odd one out?!

Pets – Cee’s Photo Challenge

Fluffy Tufts is taking part in Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge! I am way behind with these, but I will keep plodding along exploring each theme as and when I can!

This time, the theme I am looking at is ‘Pets’. Given that Fluffy Tufts is mostly about my three dogs and two cats, I think my biggest challenge will be narrowing down my collection and choosing only a few!

Here is Jimmy the Maltese/Bichon cross getting down and dirty in Marlay Park, Dublin! I love the contrast between the brown leaves and earth and the white of Jimmy’s fur. I also really like the fact that the photo shows Jimmy in his element, mud and all!

Venus the rescue cat enjoying home comforts! Venus joined our household last September and made herself at home almost straightaway. She was abused and neglected before she was rescued by the DSPCA. Given her sad background, I am amazed at the trust she has placed in us. I love this shot of her as I took it not long after she arrived here and it indicated to me that she was settled and happy to be in our home.

Pogo the Poodle enjoying the sun.  I find it extremely difficult to get a decent shot of Pogo. He doesn’t keep still long enough! This photo captures a rare moment in which he is actually chilling out!

Orange – Cee’s Photo Challenge

Fluffy Tufts is taking part in Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge! I am way behind with these, but I will keep plodding along exploring each theme as and when I can!

This time, the theme I am looking at is ‘Orange’. I find orange to be a cheerful colour and also a warm colour. The winter days are drab and dreary here, so I hope these photos will add some warmth and happiness!

Doggy Street Photography – Dublin City

It has been several months since I last posted any doggy street photography!

We went for a wander around Dublin City yesterday and I managed to get a good few shots of unsuspecting dogs.  They can be a difficult subject to capture as they are invariably racing along and all I end up with us a blur or a streak of fluff! Still, I ended up with a few half-decent dog shots.

Water – Cee’s Photo Challenge

Fluffytufts is taking part in Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge! I’m a bit behind on these challenges, so this week I am going to look at the water challenge!

One of the first photos I took as a photography student was the outside tap in the back garden.  I experimented with different shutter speeds – with a fast speed you could capture each drop of water in the flow, but if you used a slow speed, the water gained the appearance of silk pouring from the tap.

I was delighted with one of the photos I captured that day. I processed the film myself in an old-fashioned dark room. Then, I printed the image and watched it magically appear as I soaked the paper in developing fluid. I still have this photograph and when I look at it, it invokes memories of my carefree student days, the smells of the chemicals in the dark room, the pride I felt when my image appeared.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to a scanner, so am unable to share it with you. However, here are some water images from more recent times!
